I was diagnosed with Young-onset Parkinson's disease in 2011 at the age of 42. I had Deep Brain Stimulation surgery in 2021 and I went from stage 3 back to stage 1.  I am currently an Ambassador for the Davis Phinney Foundation out of Colorado, for the state of Virginia.  My husband retired after 22 years of military service and we moved to the Appalachian part of Virginia.  I am currently working on facilitating a support group for my area for Parkinson's patients and their caregivers. I am the proud mother of a 28-year-old son and a 16-year-old  daughter.

I have learned that Parkinson's disease is a snowflake disease. That means no two patients have the same symptoms. PD can also be a DIY disease. It can be very difficult at times to navigate this very complicated disease. It is my intention to bring education, support, and Hope to those afflicted with this illness and those who love them.
